Community Outreach Intern
Ijeoma is currently a junior at Metea Valley High School. Ijeoma is involved in multiple communication oriented activities, actively pursuing her love for self expression. She is a category leader and varsity competitor on her school's speech team in Original Comedy, in which she has been active for the last three years. You can also find her cracking jokes as a member of her school's comedy club, Mustang Comedy, where she has written skits, performed improv, and set the stage ablaze at stand up. However, what's not funny to Ijeoma is the imbalance of equity and equality of opportunity when distinguished by class, gender, race, income, or location. Ijeoma has addressed this problem on multiple platforms, one being her state campaign for Youth Chief Justice in Illinois' Youth and Government Program, in which she passionately works as an attorney, while serving as a case leader for her school's delegation and had previously served as an Associate Chief Justice in only her sophomore year. In her spare time, you can find Ijeoma listening to music, writing, high fiving Andrew Yang, arguing about political policies with co-chair Aarthi Krishnakumar, or volunteering at a nursing home. Ijeoma's love for public policy and equity make her all the more excited to be an intern at OLI to work towards a world that will eliminate food insecurity!
